Submissions

Interested in contributing to Babel's growing collection of articles? Great!

If you're looking to contribute a Lesson Plan or Web Quest to our database, no need to look here. All you have to do is register for an account, head to the Lesson Plan submission form or Web Quest creation form, and follow the directions.

Those are all created and submitted by users - like you - and not reviewed and edited by us.

If, however, you'd like to contribute an article for another section of the website (i.e. Methods, Tech Tutorials, etc), then you've come to the right place.

Keep these guidelines in mind, and e-mail your submission to submissions@teachbabel.com. Put the section that you are submitting for (Methods, Tech Tutorials, etc) in the subject line.

  • Articles should be approximately 400 to 1000 words.
  • Proofread your work. We will check it over for last minute editing, but we're not your English teacher.
  • The body of your article can submitted in the following ways - as plain text in the body of an e-mail, as a MS Word .doc attachment, or as an OpenOffice .odt attachment.
  • Be sure to include examples of how the topic of your article relates to teaching or education in general.
  • If you are submitting an article on Methods, include any applicable sample handouts. These should be in .doc or .odt format.
  • If you are submitting a tech tutorial, include screenshots. These should be in .jpg or .png format, and have a max file size of 75kb.

If your article is accepted and published, you'll receive a brief byline at the top of the article (just your name) as well as a longer byline (roughly two sentences) at the end of the article. In each of these bylines, we will include a link back to your own website or blog.

By submitting your article to Babel, you're granting us a temporary right to display your work electronically. We will display it on our website, and summaries of your article will appear in our syndicated rss feed.

You retain the original copyright to and ownership of the article that you wrote. You may re-publish it elsewhere, and if you ask nicely we will take it off of our website at any time.

As a courtesy, we ask that you do not republish the article elsewhere on the internet for at least two weeks after we publish it.

Thanks for your contribution to our community, and we look forward to reading your submissions. Remember to shoot them over to submissions@teachbabel.com in the appropriate formats.

Any questions about this process can be directed at questions@teachbabel.com.
