Babel - Bringing Teachers Together

During this WebQuest, each student group will choose a world river to research. We will study at least one river from each continent (except Antarctica). Through this study, students will explore the sustaining elements necessary for communities to grow and prosper, as well as compare and contrast the similarities and differences between the environments through which their rivers run and the communities (human, animal and plant) that populate their rivers. Students will also explore human impact on rivers and the environment.

A quick remembrance of a true American.

This webquest is designed as a follow-up to a persuausive essay on television violence. Students will use the evaluation criteria they have developed to select appropriate programming and advertising for a new network called Safe Kids Network (SKN).

Students will create a travel brochure for their neighborhood, The Lower East Side.

Students will work in groups to research and learn about the water cycle. By the end of the activity, students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the water cycle, identify the stages of the water cycle and categorize the four different types of clouds.

Commedia Dell'Arte

Students will work in groups of two to research and learn about the Painted Lady Butterfly. By the end of this problem-based learning activity, students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the life cycle of a butterfly, identify the parts of a butterfly and suggest what they need in their classroom to be able to properly nurture the Painted Lady larvae that will arriving soon.

In this webquest, students will investigate the amount of electricity used by different appliances in their house, and will develop a plan to reduce the amount of electricity consumed.
